A special thanks to our monitors, Paula and José, for taking good care of us. See you Monday!

Today we all made passports for ourselves.  Our new handmade passports allow us to enter into the “Kingdom of Shuan.” We studied the strange message on the British passport.  It says, “. . . allow the bearer to pass free without let or hindrance. . .” and “. . . afford the bearer as much assistance and protection as may be necessary.”  Now we can use our passports as our bathroom pass too.  We are keeping journals on what we’ve been doing, for example, new vocabulary and past simple. Here is an entry by Teresa:

How was your day?

-Did an exam

-Made a passport

-Played basketball

-Played tennis

-Answered questions

-Went swimming

-Finished worksheets

Today was the first day of class at Valencia Day Camp.  It was a hot one, but we still played football and basketball, acted on stage, went swimming, and, of course, went to English class.  Here the students in Chris’ class tell us how they cool off in the summer:

I sit in front of the fan. -Victor

I stay cool here in the summer by resting in the shade of a tree. -Jose Luis

You must drink a lot of cold water! -Lucia

You need to go to special places where it’s cold, like Alaska. -Alex

We can stay cool in Valencia in a swimming pool. -Javier

By putting your body into the fridge! -Jose

I go to the swimming pool. -Alicia

I play football. -Carlos

I see a lot of friends. -Jorge

I eat a lot of ice cream. -Amparo

I think the public swimming pools are a big help for this problem. -J.M.

Going to the beach while you drink some drinks. -Cesar

I swim on the beach and in the swimming pool. -Alba

I drink a lot of water. -Tamis
